Ihram โ€” Sacred Consecration

Tawaf โ€” Circumambulation of the Kaaba

ุงู„ุทูˆุงู

Tawaf consists of seven complete counterclockwise circuits around the blessed Kaaba, the House of Allah ๏ทป, beginning and ending at the Black Stone (Hajar al-Aswad). It is a physical expression of the believer's orbit around their Creator, symbolizing life revolving around the Divine.

Ritual Purity (Wudu)

Maintain complete ritual purity throughout all seven circuits. If Wudu breaks, step out, renew it, and restart that circuit from the Black Stone.

Starting Point

Begin each circuit aligned with the Black Stone. Raise your right hand toward it and say "Bismillah, Allahu Akbar" โ€” kissing it is Sunnah but not required in crowds.

Idtiba (Men Only)

Place your Rida under your right arm and over your left shoulder, leaving your right shoulder bare for all seven circuits.

Raml (Men Only)

Walk briskly (Raml) during the first three circuits. Walk normally for the remaining four circuits.

Continuous Dua & Dhikr

There is no prescribed dua for Tawaf โ€” make heartfelt personal supplication throughout. This is one of the most blessed times for dua. The dua between the Yemeni corner and the Black Stone: 'Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasana wa fil-akhirati hasana waqina adhaban-nar' is especially recommended.

After Tawaf

Pray two Rak'ahs at Maqam Ibrahim (the station of Ibrahim ๏ทบ). Drink Zamzam water. Then proceed to Safa for Sa'i.

Sa'i โ€” Walking Between Safa and Marwa

ุงู„ุณุนูŠ

Sa'i commemorates the extraordinary faith of Hajar ุ“, the wife of Prophet Ibrahim ๏ทบ, who searched desperately between the hills of Safa and Marwa for water for her infant son Ismail ๏ทบ. Her unwavering trust in Allah ๏ทป was rewarded with the miraculous spring of Zamzam. Sa'i consists of seven passages between these two hills, now enclosed within the Mas'a corridor of Masjid al-Haram.

1

Proceed to Safa hill after completing Tawaf and praying two Rak'ahs at Maqam Ibrahim

2

Ascend Safa, face the Kaaba direction, raise hands, and make dua โ€” recite takbeer three times

3

Walk toward Marwa (men run between the green fluorescent lights markers in the middle section)

4

At Marwa, ascend, face Kaaba direction, make dua

5

Walk back toward Safa โ€” this counts as the second passage

6

Continue alternating until you have completed all seven passages

7

End at Marwa hill on the seventh passage

Halq or Taqsir โ€” Hair Cutting

ุงู„ุญู„ู‚ / ุงู„ุชู‚ุตูŠุฑ

The final obligatory act of Umrah involves either complete head shaving (Halq) or trimming the hair (Taqsir). This symbolizes humility, submission to Allah ๏ทป, and spiritual renewal โ€” completing the Umrah and lifting all Ihram restrictions.

๐Ÿ‘จ For Men

Halq (Complete Shaving) โ€” Preferred

Complete head shaving earns greater spiritual reward. Barbers are available throughout the Haram area.

Taqsir (Trimming) โ€” Also Valid

Trimming at least one inch from all parts of the head is also acceptable if shaving is not preferred.

๐Ÿ‘ฉ For Women

Taqsir Only

Women trim at least one inch (approximately the length of a fingertip) from all their hair. This can be done privately anywhere in the Haram area. Head shaving is NOT required or recommended for women.

๐ŸŽ‰ After Halq/Taqsir โ€” Umrah is Complete!

All Ihram restrictions are lifted. You may resume normal clothing, use perfume, and return to regular daily activities. Praise Allah ๏ทป and make abundant dua for acceptance.

May Allah ๏ทป accept your Umrah and grant you Hajj Mabrur
